For a pleasant diversion as you travel the Trans-Canada Highway, stop at the Morse Museum and Cultural Centre.  This former school building, built in 1912 with additions in 1928 showing meticulous detailing in design and construction, was designated a Municipal Heritage Property in 1981.  This gracious building, now owned by the Town of Morse and administered by the Morse Cultural and Heritage Association (who have won awards for the adaptive reuse of the building), continues to serve the community for school tours and as rental facilities for meetings and classes.  Tourists have the opportunity to browse in our spacious gift shop for exclusive Saskatchewan only made crafts and art items, to gather information at our Tourism booth, to visit the Giant Cattails outside, and to visit the Art Gallery featuring works of local and provincial artists.

The Rural Municipality of Morse No. 165 was incorporated in 1911.  In 1967 the R.M. of Vermillion Hills No. 195 suspended operations and a majority amalgamated into what is now the northern portion of the RM.  The municipality has a total land area of approximately 480 square miles and encompasses the urban municipalities of Herbert, Morse and Ernfold within it’s boundaries.  The population is presently 435, with 158 dwellings occupied by permanent residents.  Taxable assessment in the RM consists of 51% railway/pipeline, 42% agricultural, 6% elevator and 1% commercial/residential.  The RM maintains approximately 600 kms of roadway from it’s maintenance shops located in the town of Morse.
